Join us Tuesday November 12, 2019 for a presentation on the Joint Land Use Studies (JLUS) in Norfolk and Virginia Beach given by Brian Joyner of Moffatt & Nichol and Andrea Sweigart of AECOM.
The meeting will present the rationale for, study approach, and conclusions from the Joint Land Use Studies (JLUS) in Norfolk and Virginia Beach. These JLUS studies worked through a process of collaborating with regional planners, local governments, Dept. of Defense staff, Virginia Port Authority and other stakeholders to evaluate and address flooding and sea level rise with respect to transportation, access to community assets, and other effects relative to Dept. of Defense installations in the cities of Norfolk and Virginia Beach. JLUS outcomes included a set of actions that have the potential to reduce frequency of flooding that affects roadway access both in the present and under future sea level rise conditions. A similar JLUS is ongoing for areas of Chesapeake and Portsmouth.
This lunch meeting will be held at the VDOT office – James River A Room and will be from 11:30AM to 1:00PM. Cost is $20 for ASHE Members/VDOT staff and $25 for Non-Members. Payment can be made through the PayPal link below or at the time of the event.
