Please join ASHE Greater Hampton Roads Chapter for our virtual April meeting.  John Arms, PE, Area Construction Manager at VDOT will present on the Laskin Road Reconstruction and Bridge Replacement Project currently under construction in Virginia Beach.  This presentation will take place Thursday April 29, 2021 from 12:00Pm to 1:00PM.

The Laskin Road project is broken up into two areas. The limits of the first area is from Republic Road to Linbay Drive. This section includes construction of an 8-lane divided highway on Laskin Road with a 5-foot sidewalk on the south, and a 10-foot shared-use path on the north. Improvements include two 12-foot through lanes and one 14-foot wide outside lane to accommodate bikes in each direction and a continuous right turn lane in each direction. This project also includes full improvements to the Laskin Road/First Colonial Road intersection, as well as construction of a 6-lane divided highway on First Colonial Road from Laurel Lane to I-264. The second section includes roadway reconstruction and replace the existing bridge on Laskin Road (Route 58) located 1 mile east of First Colonial Road. The bridge will be widened to five travel lanes with a sidewalk on the eastbound side and a shared-use path on the westbound side. The bridge will be built to accommodate future expansion to six lanes.
