For the first time in its 12 year history, the Greater Hampton Roads Section received a national award at the 2012 ASHE National conference in Seven Springs, PA. The Terrance D. Conner Award was created in 2007 in recognition of Mr. Conner’s long service as the ASHE National Secretary and his work in renewing members for all Sections. The National Board of Directors created this award recognizing that it is just as important to reward those Sections that work hard to keep their existing members as it is to reward those that work at recruiting new members. The GHR Section is the fifth Section to receive this award. Past Section and National President, Rich Clifton, accepted the award for the Section at the annual banquet at the conclusion of the national conference in June. The award, a large blue ribbon, has proudly been pinned to the Section banner so all can see it when the banner is displayed at Section events and future national conferences.
